AUDITIONS

The New Philharmonia holds auditions annually in the late spring and early fall for openings in all sections. In addition, string auditions are conducted in December and February for interested players.

Audition requirements include two solo movements of the applicant’s choice, one slow and one fast, as well as a variety of orchestral sight-reading at the discretion of the conductor. There is no advance list of required excerpts.

Some basic information about the New Phil rehearsal schedule
Rehearsals are generally held weekly between mid-September and mid-May, on Sunday evenings, 7 – 10 p.m. There are occasional Monday and other mid-week rehearsals. Rehearsals are held primarily in Newton. For more information please feel free to contact us at 617-527-9717 or info@newphil.org.
